Muturi hands over Public Service docket to Mudavadi

Outgoing Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has handed over the docket to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi after being fired last week.
In a statement, Muturi expressed his gratitude to the staff at the Ministry of Public Service for their support during his tenure.
βI sincerely appreciate everyone in the Ministry who supported and contributed to our efforts in strengthening public service. It was an honor to serve,β Muturi stated.
While speaking at the Railways, Nairobi on April, 1, 2025, during the handover ceremony, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has emphasized the need for a well-structured transition process to ensure the smooth handover of government projects and programs.
The Prime CS highlighted that this is the reason behind the government's push for the Assumption of Office of President and Transition of Executive Authority Bill, which aims to facilitate seamless governance.
βIt is important to maintain a proper framework for transferring power, including providing updates on ongoing government initiatives. A bill is already before Parliament to help streamline this process,β Mudavadi stated.
βWe need to keep a good spirit of handing over power in a structured way, including giving progress on government programmes. We already have a bill in parliament that seeks to bring order in the transfer of power.β
Mudavadi stated that Muturi had officially handed over duties to his office as the Prime Cabinet Secretary on an interim basis, allowing time for the verification and approval of the newly appointed official.
βWe sincerely appreciate Hon. Justin Muturi for his dedicated leadership and contributions to advancing public service initiatives during his tenure,β Mudavadi said.
Last week, President William Ruto nominated Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku to take over the Public Service docket pending parliamentary approval.
